Leach Public Library capital project

The Leach Public Library has received over $1-million to make our century-old building accessible to all. The renovation will include an addition with an elevator, new restrooms, an archival room, and upgrades to the building's heating and ventilation system. Work will begin in March 2026 and be complete in October. Follow along here and on our Facebook page.

This project is supported by the American Rescue Plan Act Coronavirus Capital Projects Fund (CPF) administered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury as part of an award totaling $16.4 million for capital improvements to Vermont’s public libraries. It is one of 14 CPF projects overseen by the Vermont Department of Libraries.

It takes a village to design a new village library...
Last summer, local water system expert Dustin Sanville joined our architects James and Nella Coe, along with a civil engineer from Mumley Engineering, to help demystify the current water and septic system at the library. This is to prepare the civil engineering plans for the new addition coming in 2026. Some of our trustees were also on hand, and one even lent his tractor to the efforts!
